Development League 2027

The UKWB Development League is the perfect entry level to the sport, with all clubs encouraged to play in the right spirit of development and competing fairly.

For 2027 the league is split into two regions — East, based in Durham, and West, based in Barrow — each with 7 teams. The season concludes with a Development League Finals Weekend in Durham. The league is open to players aged 12 and above, registered no higher than BWB National League Division 3 or playing at Under 15s League standard.

Classification Rules

With participation and development the key focus in this league, the classification system is relaxed slightly.

  • Non-disabled and unclassifiable players compete at a classification of 4.5 points
  • Players pending formal classification may compete at their expected classification pending confirmation
  • Base points limit: 16.0 points on court, capped at 18.5 points after allowances
  • If a male junior player is on court, an allowance of 1.0 point is added to the team's overall points limit
  • If a female player is on court, an allowance of 1.5 points is added to the team's overall points limit
  • As per BWB's Rules & Regulations, trans athletes are not eligible for the 1.5 points female allowance
