Terms of Service

1.Who we are

United Kingdom Wheelchair Basketball ("UKWB", "we", "us") is a charity registered in England and Wales under number 1192726.

These terms apply to our public website, the members portal at members.ukwb.org.uk, and the SCRD match-day app. Using any of them means you accept them.

2.Your account

You must give us accurate information when you register, and keep it up to date. An account is yours alone: do not share your password, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has been using it.

Some roles — trustees, and anyone with access to other people's information — must use two-factor authentication. That is not optional, and we will require it before granting access.

You must be 18 or over to hold your own account. Younger players take part through a junior membership managed by a parent or guardian.

3.Junior members and guardians

A junior membership is created from a guardian's account and does not have its own login. If you set one up, you confirm that you are that child's parent or legal guardian, and you are responsible for the membership and for anything done under it.

Junior members do not have voting rights, and are never sent marketing.

4.Community membership

Community membership costs £5 a year for an adult and £2.50 a year for a junior. It renews automatically each year until you cancel, and we take payment through Stripe.

Adult members get voting rights in community ballots. One member is one vote, and votes are counted once the ballot closes.

You can cancel at any time from your membership page. Cancelling stops the next renewal and your membership runs to the end of the period you have paid for — we do not refund part of a year.

If a payment fails we will try again. If it keeps failing your membership lapses, and with it your voting rights, until you pay.

5.Team registration and entry fees

Clubs enter teams into competitions each season. A place is confirmed when the entry fee is paid, and places in a competition or a region are limited — entering does not guarantee a place until it is paid for.

Where we have agreed that a club may pay by bank transfer, we raise an invoice and hold the place for the period stated on it. If the invoice is not paid by then, the place is released and offered to someone else.

Entry fees are non-refundable once a season's fixtures have been generated, because your entry has by then shaped everyone else's schedule. Before that, contact us and we will deal with it fairly.

Clubs are responsible for making sure the players they register are eligible, correctly classified, and appropriately insured.

6.Donations

Donations to the Community Development Fund are restricted: they are spent on grassroots development, through grants to clubs, and not on our general running costs.

Donations are not refundable. If you have made a mistake — the wrong amount, or a duplicate — contact us and we will put it right.

If you leave a public name or message with your donation, it may be shown on our fundraising pages. You can choose to give anonymously instead.

7.Live scoring and the SCRD app

SCRD is our match-day app, for scoring games and streaming them. Access depends on your role: officiating roles can score, and broadcasters can stream. A role is granted for a purpose and must be used for it.

If you score a game, the score you record is the published record of that game. Score it accurately and in line with the competition rules.

Scores appear publicly and in real time. Mistakes happen, and a correction made during a game is normal; a score deliberately entered wrongly is misconduct.

8.Streaming

We stream some games to our own YouTube channels. By taking part in a competition you accept that games may be filmed and published, and that you may appear in the footage.

A club may connect its own YouTube channel to stream its own games there. If you do, you confirm you are entitled to act for that channel. We will use the access only to create and update listings for that club's games, and we will never publish a club's game to a UKWB channel or a UKWB fixture to a club's.

Anything published to a club's channel is the club's content, on the club's channel, subject to YouTube's own terms. Disconnecting from us does not remove it.

Do not stream a game you are not entitled to stream, and do not re-broadcast our streams without our permission.

9.Acceptable use

You must not:

• Use the site or the app for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse or discriminate against anyone
• Try to get at accounts, information or areas you have not been given access to
• Interfere with how the service runs, or attempt to break its security
• Scrape, copy or republish our data in bulk without our written permission
• Impersonate anyone, or misrepresent which club or role you act for
• Upload anything malicious

We take safeguarding seriously. Conduct that puts a child or an adult at risk will be reported to the appropriate authorities.

10.Content

Anything you submit — a club profile, a grant application, a donation message — stays yours. You give us permission to use it for running and promoting the competitions, and you confirm you are entitled to give us that permission.

We can remove content that breaks these terms, and we will tell you why.

Our own content — the site, the app, our branding, our fixtures and our results data — belongs to us or to our licensors. You may look at it, share links to it, and use it personally. You may not republish it commercially without asking.

11.Availability

We work hard to keep the service running, especially on a match day, but we do not promise it will always be available. We may take it down for maintenance, and parts of it depend on other people — Stripe, Google, and the mobile network in a sports hall.

We may change or withdraw features. If a change materially affects something you have paid for, we will tell you.

12.Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, your legal rights are unaffected by anything here.

Beyond that, we are not liable for losses we could not reasonably have foreseen, for loss of profit or business, or for anything arising from your use of the site for a commercial purpose.

Playing wheelchair basketball carries risk, and we are not responsible for what happens at a game. Clubs are responsible for the safety, supervision and insurance of their own players and their own venues.

13.Ending your access

You can close your account at any time by contacting us. Some information stays with us afterwards, as set out in our privacy policy.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, that is being used to harm someone, or where we are required to. Except where the breach is serious or urgent, we will tell you first and give you a chance to put it right.

14.Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed, and a material change will be notified to you rather than left for you to find.

If you do not accept a change, you can close your account. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept it.

15.Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your own courts.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
